code update

We just did a rather large code update, with something like 50 separate commits... that's a lot. This should fix a lot of issues we've been seeing.

As always, if you run into anything, please let us know! You're welcome to comment here, or open a support request to get some help.

Thank you!

Hi! I'm not sure if this is a bug or something intentional on your part (which sounds sinister but I don't mean it that way. It's my Monday and I've yet to have a full pot of coffee) but when I try to add more than one account to the crossposting feature of Dreamwidth.org I'm unable to add and it just keeps repeating the page. It makes sense that you only allow one, or if you allow more it's a paid feature and if that's the case you may want to post that somewhere so those of us that have more than two journals can know. :D

Thanks!

Nope, no error message nor does it say I can only have one.

Thanks so much for letting us unpaid users add an S2 style! My eyes were starting to bleed.

Having said that, the style that compiles cleanly on LJ had a few hiccups over here. While I was working on fixing them, I clicked the "Documentation" link on the style edit page:

http://www.dreamwidth.org/doc/s2

It takes me to an empty directory listing. I suspect that's not what you intended. I did eventually fix the style bugs with a bit of tweaking and one outright paste-in-the-HTML workaround, so I'm happy with that!

One other thing, that is not a bug, just more of an FYI type of thing. On the mobile view (btw totally awesome that I don't have to have a seperate group for the mobile view) it still says LiveJournal on the reading circle page. Just thought you'd like to know.

Also, are there any plans for à la carte purchases? I'd love to purchase more userpics but couldn't care less about the rest of the paid account perks.

That was fixed with this codepush.

Early yesterday morning I signed up for two 2-month paid accounts, one for my current account and one for a new one, but it hasn't been confirmed yet. I know you were having some issues with PayPal; is my request in a queue, waiting to be confirmed, or did it not go through? Obviously I don't want to re-submit, only to end up with multiple charges on my credit card. ;-) Thanks!

I am not Mark or Denise

[personal profile] zvi 2009-05-10 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
but the answer they have previously given to this question is:

(a) Not any time soon, maybe never.
(b) If they do, it's likely to be a paid user add-on, as opposed to just a la carte userpics.
(c) If they implemented a la carte userpics (without a paid account), they would wind up charging you about 90% of the paid account cost anyway, because userpics are the most expensive thing on the website and the sort of person who wants to buy just userpics uses them in an even more expensive way than the average of all people who buy paid accounts.

Sorry, didn't mean to be one of those quote-me-the-FAQ types! I appreciate the quick, helpful answer.

Woo, the nc= trick works again! Thanks!

I don't know what's up with this setting, though.

Hi, I'm having some trouble with the javascript hovers when you move over icons (communities and users)

The background of the javascript layer is not loading, and so the text is transparent and on top of other things.

This happens on every page within DW, including friends home pages, default themes, and the like.

Using: Firefox 3.0.10 / Mac OSX 10.5.6

Trouble since: Today (am new, so... don't know if it was prior to this)

I've also been having this issue and was thinking of poking at my style to see whether there's a way to fix it, but it doesn't seem to be style-specific.

I'm getting it too, and I haven't changed anything since I signed up last week, so I think it's related to the code push.

That's a relic of when we branched from LJ's code -- they introduced the "search by email address" after we branched, but the setting was implemented before we branched. When we go through and finish cleaning up all the settings that are only accessible through that page, we'll yank that one.

I'm also having this problem.

The "LJ new comments" Greasemonkey script is, if possible, even more awesome than nc=, and it's been updated to work with DW as well as LJ.

I am using epiphany 2.22.2 on ubuntu 8.04, but I didn't have any problems with this earlier in the evening before the code push on the same browser, and this version of epiphany is using the 1.9 gecko engine, so it's much like mozilla.

Just curious: How do you use userpics in a 'more expensive way' than average?

[personal profile] inwardfocus 2009-05-10 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
Done. Thanks!
